Albite, common feldspar mineral, a sodium aluminosilicate (NaAlSi 3 O 8) that occurs most widely in pegmatites and felsic igneous rocks such as may also be found in lowgrade metamorphic rocks and as authigenic albite in certain sedimentary varieties. Albite usually forms brittle, glassy crystals that may be colourless, white, yellow, pink, green, or black.
